Bidwell cousins gathered in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida for the annual BFA reunion from June 9 – 13, 2011.
The annual BFA Board of Directors meeting was held Friday morning. After lunch on our own, we boarded the bus to depart for the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. We enjoyed a guided tour of the historic winter homes of Inventor Thomas Edison and Auto Magnet Henry Ford. We saw the beautiful homes and the surrounding gardens.
Saturday we boarded the bus after breakfast for a trip to the J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island. We all enjoyed the guided tram tour which showed us the Sanibel Island flora and fauna up close. After lunch on our own at Periwinkle Place on Sanibel Island, we returned to the hotel.
The BFA General Meeting, Memorial Service, Banquet and Annual Auction completed the activities on a busy Saturday!
On Sunday, the Florida heat and sun of June did not stop us as we explored the Naples Zoo and enjoyed a guided tour at the Naples Botanical Gardens. The evening was free to visit with Bidwell cousins or walk the beach.
Monday we departed for home looking forward to seeing one another next year at the 2012 BFA reunion in Alexandria Bay, New York.
